Now HD DVD players are on the market since 1 year and the HD DVD Group is celebrating 100,000 stand-alone HD DVD players sold in the United States.

Toshiba’s pricing strategy of their HD DVD player apparently paid off. The stand-alone Blu-ray player got also cheaper, but the HD DVD players are heavily discounted on retailers like Amazon.com.

VIZ Cap

By Good MooD | April 14, 2007

VIZ

What will those packaging geniuses think of next? The VIZCap is their latest flight of fancy, a bottle cap that stores vitamins and fizzies away from that liquid, high and dry so they won’t lose any of their potency.

When you’re ready to quaff that revitalizing energy drink in all its vitamin supplement/herbal glory, push down on the cap and those dry ingredients are released into the liquid below, effervescing and/or dissolving their little hearts out. It’ll be enough commotion to really make it seem like something big and curative is happening.

The VIZCap’s creators, a cryptically named group calling itself AFGL, say they’re “taking on the behemoth beverage industry,” apparently hoping to sell their bottle caps to those evil megacorporations by calling them names. Good luck, guys.

Sony PS3 VR/3D Game Controller - Wii ‘r Enemy

By Good MooD | April 13, 2007

VR/3D Controller for your Sony PS3

Sony’s getting desperate to goose the popularity of its slow-selling PS3, digging deep into its idea basket to catch up to the popularity of the Nintendo Wii. Apparently the company’s plan of attack is to develop a VR/3-D controller, illustrated in this patent application for a “handheld computer interactive device”.

It takes the abilities of the Wii controller a step further, where in addition to determining where your hand is in 3D space, sensors in the glove can be triggered by individual fingers, letting you grasp objects or assign each finger to a different function. Added to that is tactile feedback. Hmm. Teledildonics, anyone?

Future of UMPC

By Good MooD | April 13, 2007

future umpc

Today’s UMPCs are nowhere near being as cool as the ones in this video, but supposedly this is the direction they’re heading. You got voice recognition, ultra-thin profiles, touchscreen displays, the works. There’s no QWERTY keyboard, but if my UMPC can do everything that these can (and direct me to secret raves), I don’t care.
